Sovereigns each weigh .2354 of an
ounce of fine gold and are 22 carat (.9167) gold and 8.333% copper.
|
Gold Sovereigns
were minted from 1817
in Great Britain and from 1855
in
Australia, until 1931. A few sovereign types were produced by
Great Britain after the 1930s. They were and still are, a worldwide
currency, able to be negotiated in virtually any country. Much
Australian gold was also shipped to England. Here is your chance to buy
something historical and worthwhile, that your family, in the future, will thank you for buying...
Payment
within Australia:
Money order, cheque, which must clear before coins sent, or
direct bank deposit only on these gold coins please.
List
follows. Australian coins listed in Green title. World
coins listed in brown title.
British coins
listed in Blue title.
Two
gradings, example VF/gVF means the coin is graded both
sides, Obverse side (the portrait side) first. With most sovereigns, particularly Sovereign Shields and Sydney Mints,
the Reverse is usually in a higher grade than the Obverse. Gold
is a soft metal, so virtually all sovereigns have bag marks
or contact marks.
